First Friday Shorts starts the new year with a showcase of short films from Camp Reel Stories first summer camp, screening films made from script to final edit by young women aged 13-18.

Camp Reel Stories believes that when women are better represented behind the scenes in the media, they are better reflected on the screen. Camp Reel Stories is a summer and after school program designed to give 13-18 year old women the skills to empower them to create their own media, to view current media critically and thoughtfully, and to aspire to leadership in their field. Taught by leaders in the media industry, this one-week camp gives them the opportunity to make and broadcast their own short films: campreelstories.com 

Some of the filmmakers will be present for a Q&A so come support Camp Reel Stories and bring aspiring young filmmakers with you!
